Firstly, this is an unofficial script/screenplay for Donnie Darko. I don’t have any real qualification in script or screenplay writing, so I’m sure this won’t adhere to many of the rules. I basically just wanted to get a written version of the script itself, and highlight any important information e.g. location, time of day, important onscreen events etc. I love this movie, and this was a fun project (for me at least) and taught me a lot more about the film.

Most of the text has been aided in dictation by the subtitles on the DVD, but where the spoken text does not match the subtitles I have used the spoken version.

I would ask that this text is not used or reproduced without making reference to all my hard work, and certainly to Richard Kelly’s hard work! Thanks!

I also hope I’m not breaking any copyrights by doing this. Sorry if I am! This is done purely as a fan, and as a tribute to Richard Kelly’s amazing film.
